Poetic InspirationI went to the mountains, but nothing came. I went to the forest, but nothing came. I went to the diner, and then it came. Two, eighty-five – For a breakfast special and a hot chocolate. You may place the order in heaven, But earth is where you pay the bill.
Commentary
Upon Sri Chinmoy’s request to have a poetry competition, people started busily writing poems - at the court, at functions and even at the ‘Smile’. The inspiration for this poem was provided by a fellow budding poet laureate who, bundled neatly in the corner of the most popular dinner on Parsons Blvd, quietly trying to tempt the Muse, was interrupted by a particularly unpoetic moment.
