Magic Days

Then, we were too young.
And now, we are too old.
Whatever happened to the years in between?
Whatever happened to those magic days?
They faded like the early autumn mist in predawn light,
Silvered clouds of promise devoured by the jaws of night.
Whatever happened to those magic days?

Peel back the layers of time
And there is a young sprinter, deep within,
Ready to inspire the world with his speed.
Those magic days have never left us.
They rise like the immortal bird of fire,
Carrying a world of dreams upon its wings.
These are the magic days, here and now.
