Erika's Home page
Hello my name is Erika. Life is a wonderful journey. Full of all types of surprises. I discovered the Sri Chinmoy Centre through a friend who had persuaded me to come along to free meditation classes. Meditation has provided me with a state of peace through the ups and downs of life. Sri Chinmoy has truly been an inspiration as well as a source of wisdom. Since I have been on this path I feel that I have just grown enormously and become more aware of who I am. In addition to this I am developing a greater inner awareness of all that is around me.
Creating pieces of art has been a source of delight since I was a young child. I remember going to the art gallery for the first time when I was 7 years old and recording details of pictures and artifacts on a small notepad. Whether creating art myself or enjoying others artwork, art has special place in my world. More recently, I have been inspired to just paint from the soul without thinking about the outcome of the painting.
Sri Chinmoy has inspired me from the way he spontaneously creates art with such dynamic movements and such harmony in placement and colour. The outcome is paintings with incredible energy. I believe that tapping into the universal flow in this way can only be undertaken through a deep meditative state. Prior to starting to paint I take some time to meditate which creates a state of peace and allows the creativity to flow.
One of my other favourite pasttimes is bushwalking. I enjoy walking through the Australian bush. Particularly areas where ferns are bountiful. It's wonderful to spot a colourful rosella or lorikeet and the odd kookaburra flying about. I have also had a kangaroo hop out right in front of me onto the walking track which was unexpected but at the same time a lovely surprise.
I also enjoy cycling with our family (husband Michael and son Antony ). Our favourite spot is Jells Park where there are extensive cycling tracks. We did some training there before we cycled to schools around Victoria promoting self-trancendence. It was lots of fun, we really enjoyed it. More recently we ran in the world harmony run, which was more physically demanding. It was wonderful to be greeted by so many children and listening to their ideas about world harmony. Exciting updates to this site will occur so stay tuned.
