The Sonar Tari Vegetarian Cookbook

Welcome to an insight into embracing vegetarianism. On the following pages, you will find 'how-to' tips for those who feel daunted by the process of changing from a 'meat and three vege' diet to a fully vegetarian diet and recipes from the cornucopia of mouthwatering dishes that I have created over the years. Enjoy - Nipura.

The exciting process of embracing a healthy and balanced vegetarian diet has been fun and sometimes fraught with some hilarious and round about tangents. I have gone down the carbohydrate path, as well as the raw food path and yet also the high protein path. I have had the privilege of owning and operating a vegetarian cafe called Sonar Tari in Cuba St. in Wellington, New Zealand. The lessons I have learnt from doing this are numerous - from the sublime to the ridiculous!

One of the key elements to becoming vegetarian is that you can put together culinary components from all types of different ethnicities into the same meal. A good example is Aloo Ghobi and feta cheese wraps with Tamarillo Chutney and Hummus, delicious - if I do say so myself! This dish includes components from India, Greece, New Zealand and the Middle East. It also offers the benefits of high protein, a good source of iron and enough carbs to help the balancing act. Try them, they may make a difference to your day - BON APPETIT!

First Recipe: Aloo Ghobi
