Tamarillo Chutney
This is a really yummy and versatile chutney which you can use to pep up sandwiches or add something special to an otherwise ordinary meal.
Ingredients:
- 24 Tamarillos - peeled and chunky chopped
- 750 grams of Cooking Apples - peeled, cored and chopped
- 500 grams of Onions - peeled and sliced
- 600 mls of Vinegar
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 1-1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 kg Sugar
Combine all the above ingredients in a pot and simmer very gently for 2 hours, stirring often. When nice and thickish pour into hot, clean jars and seal immediately. Makes about 2 litres and will keep stored in a cool place for up to a year (If it lasts that long - it doesn't in my family!)
