Clean Up At The Restaurant

Still in Seattle.

At Silence-Heart-Nest we start cleaning up at around 2 and then everyday we try to finish as quickly as we can so when we close at 3 we can go home. Our previous record was 3.15 but today we finished at a groundbreaking time of 3.05!!!! It was awesome! Haha. We had to sweep and mop the entire floor, avoiding customers so we didn't mop over their feet and get sued. And then we had to take out all the rubbish and compost and recycling around to the alleyway where all the dumpsters are. After that all the floor mats get washed and layed down, the lucky person who gets this job is pretty much soaked from wrestling with the big slimy wet octopus-like rubber mats, trying to lay them back on the clean floor. Then the waiters have to lay out clean cutlery for people to eat off the next day. I usually end up messing up the beautifully laid out cutlery when violently shoving the tables aside, while trying to sweep the floors as fast as I can. The dishwasher, meanwhile, is powering through all the scungey plates and everything that are completely soiled. The fun of destroying bits of cold meals stuck on plates with a huge waterblasting hose device definitely backfires on you when you get completely soaked. Apron saturated and sari pretty much dripping. Almost everytime I do dishes I find bits of rice and beans and God knows what in my hair and am disgusted. But that doesnt last long because a few days later I want to do dishes again because of the cool hose! So, there are obviously, other jobs that I never have to do so I can't tell you about them but anyway, I'd say the latest we've gotten out of there ever was about 5 o'clock so today's record time was breathtaking. haha, literally.
