Flight delay - spiritual inspiration

On a recent trip to see my meditation teacher Sri Chinmoy, I and nearly 200 other passengers were delayed for 2.5 hours on the tarmac of Los Angeles international airport waiting clearance for take-off to continue our journey. Given the fact that such a delay in normal circumstances would have caused only minor disruptions to travellers, this one at the end of a 13 hour flight across the Pacific was looking to be very frustrating, especially when all one wants more than anything else is a soaking hot shower and a good lie down. I was beginning however to realise that this 'delay' was anything but frustrating....
I was standing in the rear galley section of the plane when a chap who I had seen on the trans Pacific flight came to join me for a glass of water. I immediate asked if he was Australian and he said that he was from a small country town in N.S.W. On further enquiry he said that he was travelling to New York to spend three months with his Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) teacher.
As we continued to chat for the full 2.5 hours I began to realise that in so many previous times over the years I recall meeting many precious souls in the strangest of places, each brought into my life to enrich it with their sincerity, inspiration, kindness and spiritual devotion. At such times I also realise that the outer mind thoughts of frustration and disappointment of a delayed flight or whatever else, once accepted as an inevitable occurrence, brings forward numerous inner opportunities to meet by divine intervention those special soul's whose lives and journeys are meant to touch our heart's in such a unique and powerful way.
As I write this article I can still feel the depth and beauty of his devotion and I sincerely pray for his continued joy and love of his practice...
