Simahin ... Welcome to my Life's Road

I shall forever be grateful to Sri Chinmoy for the privilege of being his student for the last 26 years that he was on earth ... and now every day, at times in a striking, most captivating way, my life feels nurtured, cradled and blessed by the silent-heavenly-living-fragrance of my Guru's loving concern, guidance and protection.

'The silence-profundity of the mountain reminds us of our own source - peace in infinite measure'
... Sri Chinmoy

A defining moment

Monday 26th October 1981 was a defining moment ... when a door opened to a very rare opportunity, which has become the great privilege of my life ... the day Sri Chinmoy accepted me as his disciple.

Sri Chinmoy's passing

Thursday 11th October 2007 was a momentous day ... my beloved Guru, Sri Chinmoy entered into a very high spiritual state of consciousness, called 'Mahasamadhi', whereby great spiritual masters pass from this world, through the corridors of sublime silence and trance, into the highest worlds of eternity's and immortality's infinite Light and Delight. The evening before his unexpected passing, at a gathering with his New York students, Sri Chinmoy read out a prayer from his latest published book ...

'My physical death is not the end of my life - I am an eternal journey'
... Sri Chinmoy

Simahin ... my spiritual name

Simahin (pronounced She-mar-hin) is the beautiful, Bengali spiritual name that Sri Chinmoy gave me on 25th April 1984. Simahin means 'Boundless inner aspiration flames to please the Beloved Supreme in His own way', and it represents the main characteristic of my soul ... or my best quality if you like.

My relationship with Sri Chinmoy

From the beginning, I was awed and humbled by the immense power, simplicity, purity and freedom in Sri Chinmoy's life.

Home Sri Chinmoy 95 A remarkably talented renaissance-like figure, he sleeplessly and devotedly used his extraordinary vision and creative genius across the worlds of music, poetry, art, literature and sports to inspire, uplift and touch the hearts of others.

The vastness scope, lofty consciousness, myriad diversity and prolific output of Sri Chinmoy's contributions are breathtaking, staggering and unique - unparalleled in our time - and it may well be centuries before his place amongst the greatest spiritual luminaries, who have walked upon this earth, is fully appreciated.

I found in my Guru, Sri Chinmoy, a modest, humble, divinely intoxicated man whose unceasing compassion, affection and love of God quietly and powerfully awakened a serene, celestially-beautiful, guiding light deep inside my heart ... and that loving pressence continues to inspire me to see the greater possibilities in my life.

Generally, the spiritual teacher/disciple relationship is not well understood ... and sadly, words will always fail to adequately describe the enchanting, luminous, inner fragrance of eternal love and concern that is the essence of my connection with Sri Chinmoy (whom his students have always affectionately called 'Guru').

Nevertheless, I look forward to sharing with you anecdotes, stories and images from my journey thus far, and particularly some moments from this wonderful, poignant, blessing-filled relationship and the life transformation that is accompanying it.
