I must begin my life
Once again
By dreaming the impossible.

Lost and Found

Why do I lose none but You?
This the strangest of mysteries.
When I could taste the sunlit dew,
I gulp down poisonous histories.

Who else would sit in patience long
While I slumbered centuries deep?
Or valiant stand in Victory Song
While I could only weep?

Who else would run to catch my dreams
As quickly as they strayed?
Or neatly stitch my ragged seams
As soon as they were frayed?

Yet I discard Your Fondness sweet
As if it were a stone.
I take my melancholy seat
As if I were alone.

But then I half remember You
Reclining all the while
On the pillows of my laughter,
In the corners of my smile.

I see that You were never lost
Except if I was too.
No hostile deserts have I crossed
Unless it was with You.
