My name is Suswara and I have been a student of Sri Chinmoy since 1992.

One of the things I enjoy about being part of the Sri Chinmoy Centre is that there are so many different activities that you can take part in. I have recently become interested in our humanitarian aid project: The Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles. This is something that I always wanted to get involved in, but somehow didn't feel I had the necessary skills and also, somehow the opportunity never presented itself. As with all our activities we never ask for money. The thing I like about OHTS is that we send items that our society has no use for to people that are desperate for them.

Being in the Sri Chinmoy centre is like being part of a large family that lives all round the world. It is so nice to have friends in many, many different countries. I have always liked travelling and discovering new places and ways of life but now it is even better because I know people in most countries I visit.

My main love though is music - in particular singing spiritual songs. I have always had a deep feeling for music - mainly classical - and enjoyed playing in orchestras at college. However, the feeling I get from singing spiritual songs goes beyond that - it is because you become part of the song, one with the music itself. It becomes an expression of something very pure inside yourself – which is the same thing that you feel in your meditation. I sing in group called Ananda and we perform regularly at meditation classes in England, particularly in my home city of Bristol. Sometimes we give concerts too.

Meditation is, of course, something I practice daily. Through meditation you become aware of your inner capacities and learn to discover more about yourself and your own potential. That process of learning and discovery is what gives life its meaning and fulfilment. It doesn't matter where you are on your journey but just that you are on a journey and want to discover more.
