Harmony Descends on Brisbane
A free concert of sublime music with a unique blend of Eastern and Western traditions ... a must for all lovers of vocal music. Saturday November 12, 7.30-9pm, Abel Smith Theatre, University of Queensland
"Musicians should give something new; they should give the world music that comes directly from the soul, music that will help humanity raise its consciousness—not the things that have been known for many, many years, but the things that people have never seen or felt or heard."
These are the words of international harmony leader and acclaimed maestro, Sri Chinmoy, who is recognised as being among history’s most prolific composers and lyricists, having composed nearly 19,000 songs and dedicated more than 700 international concerts for world harmony.Just as he himself pours constant newness and innovation into his projects, he encourages his students to do likewise.
On Saturday, November 12, students of Sri Chinmoy will hold a concert free of charge at the University of Queensland’s Abel Smith Auditorium. The concert is a fresh and invigorating offering of goodwill.
The performers, who are travelling from
New Zealand, will offer hauntingly beautiful arrangements of Sri Chinmoy’s music, which has a uniquely Indian flavour
coupled with vocal and instrumental accompaniments that border on
other-worldly.
They are performing for one night only on Saturday, Nov 12th, 7:30pm-9:00pm. Admission is free.
