Free meditation courses in Dublin city centre

With meditation, we become aware of the beauty, vastness and spontaneous joy that lie at the very core of our being. In this two week course, we introduce a wide variety of practical techniques to help you embark upon your own journey of self-discovery - and release the infinite potential within!

July 2008 - Evening Classes


The classes are given free of charge by members of the Dublin Sri Chinmoy Centre at the request of our meditation teacher Sri Chinmoy, in the belief that self-discovery is our birthright and not a commodity to be bought or sold. We also give occasional classes in Cork and Galway...


During the course we will learn a wide variety of meditation exercises including:

  • Concentration and breathing exercises
  • Meditation on the heart centre - that place in the middle of the chest where one feels the essence of one's existence....
  • Mantras and mantric songs
  • Visualisations
  • Meditations to music
  • Some hatha yoga techniques to use preparatory to meditation

Meditation gives you an increased awareness of yourself and a realisation how the outside world can influence you; it expands your consciousness, your awareness of the Truth. We will be discussing practices you can introduce into your daily life to help expand your consciousness, and also talk about the different kinds of Yoga, the different spiritual paths through which people have searched for fulfilment.


We also discuss how a meditation teacher can help a student progress in his meditation and inner growth, and perhaps share a few experiences on how our own teacher, Sri Chinmoy, has inspired us in our journey of self-discovery.


For those who like what they see, and are interested in learning a little more about meditation and the spiritual lifestyle, we shall offer a series of advanced continuation classes following straight after the introductory course.

No special equipment required, just wear some comfortable loose clothing - preferably light colours as it helps the atmosphere of the meditations!
