Boris Purushottama Grebenshikov Live in New York

page created by John-Paul Gillespie last modified 2008-02-28 03:56 AM

Recorded live at the United Nations in New York, August 29th 2007, poet, scholar, songwriter and musician Boris Purushottama Grebenshikov—“the Russian Bob Dylan”—features in a concert of his inspired, soul-stirring songs, available to listen to now at Radio Sri Chinmoy.

In a just published feature, and available for the first time, Radio Sri Chinmoy presents 22 tracks—a one and a half hour recording—from living Russian music legend Boris Purushottama Grebenshikov’s concert at the United Nations—a small but by no means insignificant sampling of an artist with over 500 songs and a career over 30 years in length.

“Purushottama”—a name given to the musician by Sri Chinmoy meaning “The Highest, He who transcends all limits”—was invited to give the concert at the United Nations by Sri Chinmoy, and it is Sri Chinmoy himself who opens the concert with a minute of silence. Students of Sri Chinmoy are the accompanying musicians.
