Sri Chinmoy Centre Takes The Cake

2,100 delighted passers-by received free pieces of delicious chocolate cake and an aphorism by Sri Chinmoy in a celebration of 21 years of the Sri Chinmoy Centre in New Zealand.

21 years of free meditation workshops, public races, free concerts, 'Jharna Kala galleries', 'World Harmony Runs', and the establishment of two Vegetarian cafes dedicated to world harmony  is definitely a cause worth celebrating, and what better way to celebrate than to make a giant cake and share it with 2,100 members of the community?

Well that is exactly what members of the Christchurch Sri Chinmoy Centre did on Friday 18 March 2005.

The tasty give-away was all part of a combined New Zealand effort to create 21 pieces of good news to offer in gratitude to Sri Chinmoy for his encouragement, inspiration and guidance over the past 21 years of the Sri Chinmoy Centre in New Zealand.

And how did it go? "It went down a treat" said cake icer and tester Sarah Mettrick of the Christchurch Sri Chinmoy Centre.
