New Enterprise Opens in Auckland

Juice Bar and Café

Named by Sri Chinmoy, The Sweetness-Joy of the Unknown Beyond is situated in the award winning shopping precinct of Newmarket - an area renowned for it's fashionable stores, boutiques, cafés and restaurants. Set a little above street level, the juice bar has a lovely decor and ambience. A tasteful sampling of Sri Chinmoy's artwork adorns the walls and there is a feeling of spaciousness and tranquility - a lovely haven for local office workers and shoppers to relax and unwind in.

The juice bar's proprietors, husband and wife team Amantran Gibbes and Sutibra Van Stratum, have been working hard for many weeks to have the enterprise open in time for the 42nd anniversary of their meditation teacher Sri Chinmoy's arrival in the West. Sri Chinmoy arrived in New York from India on April 13, 1964 - an occasion celebrated each year by his students and friends all over the world.

When congratulated on the accomplishment of getting a fine new enterprise open, Amantran - a CEO for a major construction company in New Zealand - stated that it was a team effort. "Many of the members of the Auckland Centre pitched in and were often working until the small hours of the morning." he said. "They really showed good heart and their efforts can be felt when you walk into the place - for me it has a nice feeling of communal effort. We even had one of Sri Chinmoy's students from the US come over for a couple of weeks to help with the initial design work. His advice and input were invaluable."

Supreme Nectar will serve speciality fruit and vegetable juices - all original recipes. Sutibra runs the kitchen and says that her assistants have been working on various combinations of juices and smoothies for 3 or 4 months now. "We been trying different combinations of juices and smoothies out on the other members of our meditation centre - actually I think they are all juiced out at the moment!" she laughed. "But no-one died and many of them came to the opening on Sunday - so the concoctions can't have been too bad. I think we have a great variety of pretty unique juices and smoothies - they are very healthy and taste great!"

Sutibra adds that they will also serve soups, breads, sandwiches, wraps, salads and sweets - all homemade and fresh each day.
