Guru's Voice

Guru's Voice

Three years ago, when I had been a disciple of Sri Chinmoy only a few days, something very unusual happened. While I was on vacation in Greece, I was meditating at midnight, when suddenly the thought came to me that somebody in my family would die. I was so shocked and scared because the feeling was so strong and clear, like an absolute reality. I couldn't sleep, and I felt that only if I prayed could I help. It was such a powerful feeling that I almost could hear a voice saying, "Pray, pray." I was praying all day—I didn't even know who it was for; I just prayed for someone in my family. After a few days this intense feeling disappeared and I felt that nobody would die. When I crossed the border into the Czech Republic, I called home and my brother told me that my mother was in the hospital. The doctors didn't know exactly what was wrong. As soon as I arrived home, I went to visit my mother. She didn't look well, but she was very happy that I had come to see her. I came again the next day, but to my surprise, my mother wasn't in her room and her bed had been prepared for another patient. I found the doctor and he told me that my mother was in intensive care because she had had an emergency operation at 3 a.m. Her appendix had burst and a few organs in her abdominal cavity had become inflamed. The doctor said she was really lucky to be alive because it was very serious and she could have easily died. When I heard this I immediately remembered the experience I had had. I strongly feel that it was God's compassion which had saved my mother and that it was Guru's voice telling me to pray and have faith.
