Learn to Meditate - London

Meditation is primarily a simple concept. It is only our mind which complicates things and makes meditation appear difficult. If we can silence the mind and allow our inner self to come to the fore we will be able to meditate naturally and spontaneously without appearing to make any effort.

As Sri Chinmoy says.

"We start with our own physical and mental effort, but once we go deep within we see that it is not effort that allows us to enter into meditation. Meditation will be complicated so long as we depend on ourselves, feeling, "If I don't meditate at six o'clock, then my world will certainly collapse." But when we feel that meditation is being done by the Supreme in us with our conscious awareness and consent then meditation cannot be complicated."

To Learn how to meditate effectively we can start with these simple steps.

1. Regularity of practice

2. Intensity of focus.
It doesn't matter how long we meditate for, but when we do meditate we should not allow ourselves to be distracted by anything in the past or what may happen in the future. We need to focus entirely on our meditation

3. Proper Breathing
Proper breathing helps us to quieten the mind and make ourselves more receptive. Try these breathing techniques

We can learn to meditate on our own but in the beginning it is helpful to associate with people who have also been meditating for a longer time.
