Sri Chinmoy Wrist Curls Mammoth Dumbbell
International fitness champion and global harmony leader, Sri Chinmoy, has curled a massive 256lb (116.1kg) dumbbell with each wrist - by far the heaviest dumbbell ever curled!
It has only been just over three weeks since 74 year old Sri Chinmoy broke his own record with a wrist curl of 203lbs (92kg) - a transcendence of 30lb (13.6kg) from his previous best of 170lb (77.1kg). Not content to rest on the laurels of that amazing feat of strength, he has leapt 53lb (24kg) to curl a monstrous dumbbell that even the toughest strength athlete would probably consider impossible to move for any type of arm exercise - let alone using the tiny isolated muscles of the wrist! On top of that, Sri Chinmoy's body weight at the time of his latest triumph was 76lb (34.4kg) less than that of the dumbbell.
Top strength athletes and fitness experts are astounded at Sri Chinmoy's herculean achievement. Five-time Mr. Universe and 'Best Built Man of the Century' Bill Pearl exclaimed: "In my more than 60 years in the fitness and bodybuilding field, I have never heard of anyone in the world able to curl this huge amount of weight! This is a miracle!"
Renowned as an author, musician, artist and interfaith leader, Sri Chinmoy explains his meteoric lifting progress and world record success very simply: "God out of His infinite Bounty has given me the capacity to do this 256 pound wrist curl with each hand. I am placing my happiness-heart-achievement at the Feet of God."
At the time of Sri Chinmoy's 203lb wrist curls, Wayne DeMilia - Head Judge, Mr. Olympia Contest Chairman, International Federation of Body Builders - had this to say: "Out of all the weightlifters and champion bodybuilders I have seen; and I have seen many, Sri Chinmoy is the only one I have ever seen wrist curl a 200lb. dumbbell."
And Jim Smith - long-time Registrar of the British Amateur Weight Lifters Association - commented, "I am certain that nobody else in the world can do a wrist curl with a 200 pound dumbbell - no matter how old they are or how much they weigh! The strongest men in the world are seeing that a 74-year-old man is curling with one arm much more than twice the weight that the world’s best bodybuilders and weightlifters can curl with two arms."
Why does Sri Chinmoy bother to lift these super-heavy weights at what he describes as 'the ripe old age of 74'? In his own words, "What I wish to show by these feats of strength is that prayer and meditation can definitely increase one's outer capacities. I hope that by doing this I will be able to inspire many people to pray and meditate sincerely as part of their regular daily routine... The physical body has to become a pure and perfect instrument of the spirit. I am doing these lifts with the physical body, but the strength and power are coming from within - from an inner source."
What a wonderful inspiration Sri Chinmoy continues to be - and what an inspiring testimony to the dauntless human spirit!
If there is implicit faith,
The absolutely impossible
Becomes absolutely possible.
