Concentrating

Concentrating

During Sri Chinmoy's visit to Prague in March 1999, when we were getting ready to leave the hotel in the morning after a very short night, I parked my car near where Guru was standing in front of the hotel, as there was no other place. Guru was intently looking at my car, as if concentrating on it—I had no idea why. Later, when we were driving from Prague to Budapest, for many hours I just postponed refilling the diesel. Since the gauge indicating the amount of diesel still available is not very exact, I thought that everything would be all right. But near the end of our trip, we ran out of diesel and had to stop on the highway, two miles short of the next gas station. When a diesel car runs out of fuel, it can cause serious trouble. The car has to be restarted by an auto mechanic in a costly procedure, and even if you manage to start it again without this procedure, some parts may be damaged. But there on the highway, after some moments of anxiety and hope, and after a few false starts, the engine went on and nothing was damaged. At that moment my wife Ishita reminded me of how Guru had been concentrating on the car a few hours before.
